Frequently Asked Questions

What is house-call grooming?

House-call grooming is exactly how it sounds! Your dog gets groomed in the comfort of your home. No need to travel to a grooming salon, the salon travels to you! All you need to do is provide a few things for your groomer and then sit back and relax while your dog gets treated to a spa day.

Why should I use a house-call groomer?

Some dogs feel less anxious about grooming when they’re in a familiar environment, like their home. House-call grooming also provides personalized one-on-one attention that a salon may not offer.

Do I need to provide anything?

The only things you'll need to provide are…

  • a quiet, comfortable space for your groomer to bathe and groom your dog in

  • towels

  • a vacuum or broom so your groomer can clean up after the service

Optional, but helpful…

  • a foldable tub, if you have a stand-in shower or bathtub

  • a hose attachment, if you do not have a shower or sink with a handheld shower head or faucet sprayer

Are there any vaccine requirements?

To ensure the safety of our groomers, we require signed documentation from your dog’s veterinarian proving that your dog is up to date with their rabies vaccine OR has undergone rabies titer testing. Valid documentation must be provided prior to your dog’s next appointment.*

*Medical exemptions for senior dogs or dogs with special health conditions are considered.

How long does the grooming process take?

On average, a small dog will take 2-3 hours to groom and a medium-sized dog may take 3-4 hours.

Things to consider that may help speed up the process…

  • Confidence level (a confident dog whose mental, emotional, and physical needs have been met will be more relaxed during their session)

  • Coat type and/or haircut style (shorter hair is easier to maintain and takes less time to brush and dry)

  • Skin and coat condition (healthy skin and coat requires less specialty products and speeds up brushing and drying)

  • Bathing setup (having a portable pet bathtub or sink along with a sprayer hose allows a more comfortable and efficient experience for the stylist)

  • Water pressure (higher water pressure penetrates deeper into the coat, helping suds rinse off faster)

How often should my dog get groomed?

We encourage you to get your dog groomed consistently every 4 weeks or sooner. This time frame helps keep your dog’s coat maintained and at its healthiest and helps speed up the grooming process, which benefits you, your dog, and your groomer!

How is pricing determined?

Pricing is determined by the time, care, and attention each pet requires as an individual.

Is there a weight limit for your services?

While we love animals of all shapes and sizes, we can currently only accept dogs that weigh 40 lbs or less that will comfortably fit on a 16” x 24” tabletop.*

*Exceptions may be considered for short-haired bath dogs.

Can I stay and help?

While we appreciate you wanting to help, we also want to give your dog a fair chance to build confidence. You are more than welcome to watch quietly from an area where you can see what’s going on, but your dog cannot hear or see you. This allows the dog and the groomer to build trust and form a bond. Your groomer will gladly ask for help if help is needed.

Appointment changes made after the 72 hr time frame will result in forfeiture of your deposit and immediate cancellation of the original appointment. Another deposit will be required to book another appointment. Clients that cancel or reschedule more than 2 times per year may lose access to scheduling future appointments.
