Frequently Asked Questions

What is house-call grooming?

House-call grooming is exactly how it sounds! Your dog gets groomed in the comfort of your home. No need to travel to a grooming salon, the salon travels to you! All you need to do is provide a few things for your groomer and then sit back and relax while your dog gets treated to a spa day.

Is there a weight limit for your services?

While we love animals of all shapes and sizes, we can currently only accept dogs that will comfortably fit on a 16” x 24” tabletop. We may make exceptions at our discretion for short-haired bath dogs. This size limit does not apply for stand-alone Reiki services.

What do I need to provide for the groomer?

The only things you need to provide are…

  • a quiet, comfortable space for your groomer to bathe and groom your dog in

  • towels

  • a vacuum or broom so your groomer can clean up after the service.

Why should I use a house-call groomer?

Besides being convenient for you, some dogs feel less anxious about grooming when they’re in a familiar environment like their home. Additionally, house-call grooming provides personalized one-on-one attention that many salons don’t offer.

How long does the grooming process take?

On average, a small dog will take 2-3 hours to groom and a medium-sized dog may take 3-4 hours. The time it takes depends on many factors such as coat type, coat condition, your dog’s behavior/confidence level, if your dog needs extra special care and handling, style of haircut, and bathing setup (for example, having to bend over a bathtub and use a cup or low water pressure to rinse off your dog will result in a slower bath time)

How often should my dog get groomed?

We encourage you to get your dog groomed consistently every 4 weeks. This keeps your dog’s coat maintained and at its healthiest and helps speed up the grooming process which benefits you, your dog, and your groomer! You can choose to alternate services every 4 weeks. (For example, book a haircut first, then a bath after 4 weeks, and then a haircut again, etc.)

Can I stay and help?

While we appreciate you wanting to help, we also want to give your dog a fair chance to build confidence. You are more than welcome to watch quietly from an area where you can see what’s going on, but your dog cannot hear or see you. This allows the dog and the groomer to build trust and form a bond. Your groomer will gladly ask for help if help is needed.

What is Reiki?

Reiki, literally meaning “universal (rei) life force (ki),” is a Japanese energy healing technique used to reduce stress and promote relaxation. It is guided by spiritual consciousness and is non-invasive, so it can safely be performed on your pet without any negative side effects. This ancient technique can be a helpful add-on to your pet’s grooming sessions or as a stand-alone service to help calm your pet.
